In this video I take a look at the Moft MagSafe Wallet Stand, my first MagSafe accessory. It has dual functionality as both a 3-mode stand and a 3 card wallet.

About a month ago I did a video unboxing the iPhone 12 Pro Max and compared it to the iPhone 11 Pro Max. In that video I promised to review any MagSafe accessories I come across in future, well the first MagSafe accessory that I’ve come across is the Moft Wallet Stand and in this video I’ll take a look at it.

So the Moft wallet stand is comparable to the Apple MagSafe Wallet, however, the materials aren’t the same. It definitely doesn’t feel as premium as the Apple wallet. Additionally, the Moft Stand offers more utility than the Apple Wallet because it gives you the ability to use it as a stand as well. Similar to the Apple Wallet, it will hold three cards. As you can see here I’ve placed three cards in it and it doesn’t stick out too much. Unlike the Apple Wallet, which is smooth on the back of the phone when you hold it, when you hold the Moft wallet you’ll definitely feel the ridges (sharp edges) on the back.

Speaking of holding the case in your hand, what I use the case for as well when I’m walking around or just sitting on the couch or lying in bed, is to open the stand to the first position (open and locked) and then stick my finger (s) between the opening in the stand. That actually allows me to use it similar to a pop-socket to prop up the phone or just to support it while watching content, reading emails, doing some social media, or whatever else I’m doing on the phone at the time. It just gives me another way to hold the phone which is more comfortable.

In terms of utility of the case, it allows you to use it in three positions. The first position is portrait mode, the second position is achieved by simply rotating the phone unto its side to landscape position, and then the third position is what Moft refers to as floating landscape mode, kinda similar to the iPad Pro on its magic keyboard.

The other side of the stand is the wallet function, which allows you to put three cards in it. But, how well does it adhere to the phone? Well if you use it with a MagSafe cases such as the Apple leather or silicone cases, or any other MagSafe cases, it will adhere just a little better than if you were to put it on the bare iPhone. The reason for this is that there’s a little more friction between the wallet Stand and the case.

In terms of removing the cards from the wallet, they can be easily removed if you fold out the stand which exposes approximately a third of the card, making it easy to slide them out. So how about using it as a wallet and putting it in your pocket? What I’ve found is when you put it in your pocket it doesn’t really come off per se, however, because its magnetic it’s harder to pull it straight up but it’s a lot easier to slide off. So there’s a chance that when you put it in your pocket it could become dislodged from the back of your iPhone or MagSafe case that you’re using it with. So just be wary of that and be extra vigilant while putting it in or taking it out of your pocket, especially if there are other items in the same pocket.

To demonstrate how well the magnets hold, I’ll go ahead and give it a quick shake test for you to see. For normal day-to-day usage, the magnets hold very well and you don’t have to worry too much about it becoming accidentally dislodged. But do I trust this wallet with valuable credit cards or identification cards? Do I think the magnets are strong enough to do this? Honestly, I don’t know if I would trust it with my cards. It hasn’t really accidentally come off, however, I primarily use it for the stand function.

Here are my overall impressions of the Moft Wallet Stand, I think it’s nicely designed and well thought out. You can use it to prop up your phone on your desk in portrait mode or landscape mode and the built in angle works well with FaceID. It’s great for watching content, reading emails, listening to music, or whatever else you want to do on your phone. It’s a really good utility wallet stand. Using it as a wallet is also good as you can easily fit three cards; however, I still don’t think the magnets are strong enough for me to be 100% comfortable (maybe 70%) for it not to fall off with my cards.
