It’s been over 6 months since I replaced my damaged AirPods Pro earbud and subsequently replaced the protective case with a Speck Presidio Click-flip case. Here are my thoughts 6 months later.

Welcome to another GThentic review, today we’re taking a look at the Speck Presidio ClickFlip case and I’ll provide you with an update on how it’s been holding up over the past few months. As you are aware, a while back made a video on how I lost an earbud (AirPods Pro) and how I lost the top of the protective case I was using at the time. I ended up replacing the earbud and I replaced the case with the Speck ClickFlip.
0:52 Case Stiffness
One of the biggest issues I had with the Speck ClickFlip case when I just got it was that it was very difficult to open one-handed. As you can see now, over time the case has loosened up enough and I can now click it with one hand and it opens. So now it’s very easy to open one-handed, you just click it and it flips!
1:11 Case Removal
Something else I had difficulty with (when the case was new) was removing the case. At the time of purchase it was so stiff that the case was difficult to remove. A few months later; however, having opened and closed it quite a few times, it’s now much easier to remove the case than it when it was new. I find it fairly easy to remove the bottom piece of the case and then removal of the top of the case is relatively easy. Once the case is removed you’ll gain access to the pairing button which cannot be used with the case on. You’ll only need access to this button if you reset your AirPods Pro or you need to pair it with another device that’s not on your Apple ID.
1:58 Daily Usage
In terms of daily usability, this case is much more useable than my previous cases. The included carabiner works pretty well and it’s great for attaching to zippers, belt loops, backpacks etc. I have found this case will not fall off (unlike my previous cases) nor will it accidentally open unless I press the latch to open it. Thanks to this updated AirPods Pro case design I can say that fortunately I haven’t lost another earbud since then.
2:27 How to Pair Update
In my previous video on how to pair the replacement earbud I mentioned the steps to pair it but didn’t quite show how to do it. If you press the pairing button on the back of the case the green light on the front will illuminate. If you keep pressing that button, with the earbuds in the case and the case open, the green light will turn white and start blinking. When it does, move it close to your iPhone or whichever device you want to pair it with then you will see the pop-up to pair the AirPods Pro. Tap connect, then you will be guided through the features of the AirPods Pro to include media controls, noise control, the control center, spatial audio etc.
3:36 Dust Protection
Going back to the Speck case, you will notice it has a protective flap over the lightning port to keep dust and moisture out. Additionally the case doesn’t cover the charging indicator light on the front of the case, which is a nice touch, even though the pairing button on the back is unusable without removing the case.
